About

Nathége (they/them) is  haitian- american fiber and performance artist , writer and curator. Their practice is rooted in poetry, inspired by Audre Lorde, they expanded it to include textile arts and performance as a way of bringing unnamed emotions into a corporeal space. Drawing from their Haitian heritage to ground themselves in a larger history. In various mediums, Nathége creates art that communicates the human need for connection and the avenues we take to reach it. Honoring the legacy of Black feminists , Nathége incorporates theory into practice by approaching ideas of gender, sexuality ,and spirituality with the intention to expand the lexicon for what black femmes can be.

Their curatorial and artistic practices are grounded in passion for ‘reimagining otherwise’ and a commitment to creating spaces, works and communities where our positionalities are not just represented but valued as tools for liberation.
